Domain names and branding the Chinese way">Domain names and branding the Chinese way

September 30th, 2016 by Patricia - DomainBELL

By Kassey Lee

Lately I’ve been thinking about the idea of branding the Chinese way. As I understand it, branding is about associating products or services with a name. Global brands such as Nike spend million dollars every year in advertising and promotion so that when I think running shoes I think Nike or vice versa.

Domain names add a new dimension to branding. Think for a moment. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, when consumers want to buy a product or service, they remember a brand to choose and also where they can buy it? Using the same example, if I want to buy a pair of running shoes, I instantly think of Nike and know I can go to Nike.com to buy the shoes. Simple and straight forward. I think this may be the ultimate goal of branding: associating products/services with a brand name and its digital address. How powerful! You just come directly to the store. You don’t need any guide to take you to the store.

Now let’s look at China. Chinese consumers remember names in Chinese characters — so Alibaba is 阿里, Yahoo is 雅虎, and Softbank is 软银. If brands are remembered as Chinese names, then it follows that domain …read more

AUCTION RECAP OF SEPTEMBER 29, 2016">AUCTION RECAP OF SEPTEMBER 29, 2016

September 30th, 2016 by Patricia - DomainBELL

By Travis M.

A comprehensive look at the final auction prices, closeouts and more from the auction list posted on September 29, 2016.

If you would like to submit names to be considered for inclusion in the upcoming October DSAD Namejet auction you can list them here or use the white button at the top right of the page. The commission is the standard Namejet 15%, and we will be marketing the names at no additional cost to you.

If there is an asterisk (*) next to a price, it means that the name was at auction from a private seller (rather than an expiring name) and may have had a reserve. I’m only showing where the price was when the auction ended, but the name may not have sold if a reserve was in place.

SiberName Creates FAQ on ICANN’s New Domain Transfer Policy">SiberName Creates FAQ on ICANN’s New Domain Transfer Policy

Sibername - Perfect solutions for your web presence

SiberName has created an FAQ page on its website to help the public understand the new ICANN transfer policy changes and be better prepared for them (the changes involve standardizing “inter-registrar” and “inter-registrant” domain transfers). This new policy will increase domain ownership accuracy but will also slow down the process for registrants, registrars, re-sellers and registries.

Sibername.com – Perfect solutions for your web presence

Now’s the time for “inter-registrar” and “inter-registrant” transfers, before December 1st, 2016.

OTTAWA, ON (PRWEB) SEPTEMBER 30, 2016

SiberName, an ICANN-accredited domain registrar, is adopting a proactive approach to the “inter-registrar” and “inter-registrant” domain transfer policy changes for gTLDs. First, it has created an FAQ page on its website to serve as a communication node to explain and discuss this new policy with its customers, re-sellers, and the public interested in domain names. Here’s the link to the FAQ blog article: FAQ blog article on ICANN’s new policy.

(The FAQ is a work in progress and will be continually updated with additions and edits as new questions and information come in.)

SiberName is also emailing all its clients and re-sellers to make them aware of the changes within this new policy well before the scheduled date. It will also be …read more

This weekend I have our big Kids day and fall festival. It started as a birthday party for my daughter. I would rent a giant slide and a pony and have her friends over for a party. If some kids showed up they could ride and slide. Every year more kids would show up until my daughter was too old to want a party and we now have thousands of people show up. Everything is free and part of the way I make money is by offering something cheap and nice for them to buy. Pumpkins and mums do the trick. They feel like they should buy something to thank us for all the free entertainment so they pick up a mum or two. It took me a while to figure this out. I knew we should have pumpkins and mums because I see every other orchard and nursery had them. But I figured if I could produce them in numbers and get the price down they would buy a few in thanks, or just buy them because they are the best and cheap. 12,000 mums later its working. …read more
