A few people can attest I drank alcohol at Namecon. And one night at NamesCon after enjoying some festivities, I decided to write a post. I actually posted it and let it stay up for a few hours and then took it down. A few people saw it but most didn’t. But I figured its all in fun and so I’ll post the unedited edition. This is an attempt at humor from a semi drunk middle aged man. My Day At NamesCon: A Humble Recount of Events from the World’s Greatest Nurseryman Domain …read more

February 28th, 2015 by Patricia - DomainBELL

By Raymond Hackney In an article on Torrent Freak it seems that the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) is in bed with ICANN and is trying to use that relationship to shape certain policies. These policies center on the handling of domain names used by sites that infringe intellectual property. From the article: The MPAA is one […]

Have a big day planned today. I have two speeches to give next week and like normal haven’t finished either. Believe it or not, I enjoy speaking. The bigger the crowd the better. This crowd is only a few hundred but I take pride in the fact that they sell tickets and I sold out in the first day. I think the title of the presentation is one of the keys to getting someone to sign up. I called it 100 Helpful Hints to a Better Garden and 6 That Won’t Help at All. …read more

Daily Sales Recap 2-27-15

BusinessAuctions.com sold for $4,736 on NameJet, I thought the buy of Parkvale.com for $801 was a good buy. CafeGirl.com for $164 on DropCatch was a nice price for the buyer.

Tips.ca closed at $1,500 you don’t see too many .ca domains on the platform, I wonder how much someone like Adam Dicker would have paid for that name as he is always on the lookout for short, meaningful .ca domains.

The screenshots below are examples of buyers of domains from the last few months that have either developed their sites, or purchased an upgrade domain and have redirected their acquisition to an existing website. Joy.club sold for $10,000 at Sedo, and the owner of JoyClub.de acquired it and redirected the .club to the .de. This club is not safe for work……at least not corporate work. Incir.com sold for $20,000 at NoktaDomains. The Turkish language site appears to be promoting some sort of web development business. Selling a Domain Name – NamesCon Session with Adam Dicker

Well, I received some good feedback regarding the first summary article I wrote for Namescon 2015 session, Identifying and Appraising a Valuable Domain, by Adam Dicker. As such, I thought I’d write another and summarize the second session that was put on by Adam Dicker at Namescon, which was titled Selling A Domain Name.

Once again, there was standing room only for this early Namescon 2015 session and Adam took the time to answer numerous questions from the audience and told several personal stories regarding lessons learned along the …read more

Domain Incite is five years old today">Domain Incite is five years old today

Five years ago Domain Incite published its first story, with the introductory line “Let’s start at the beginning, shall we?”

I went on to describe how I’d registered the name domainincite.com and thrown up a live, resolving web site in less than one hour.

But that wasn’t quite the beginning.

What I neglected to mention were the eight hours I spent sitting with my father that weekend, brainstorming domains that captured the slightly acerbic tone I expected to use and which were also available at a reasonable price.

That was also when we came up with the tag line “domainincite.com n. because all the …read more
